To Chris: Febeiger, Treasurer, enclosing a letter [not present] "to the President & Directors of the Bank of Pena. respecting the additional payment of 50,000 Dollars: Will you be kind enough to attend to the business & transmit their receipt to my office." Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 1791-1801, Alexander J. Dallas was Madison's Secretary of the Treasury from 1814-1816. Fragile. Professionally silked. Folds, which had separated are reattached by silking. Vertical fold touches "A" in signature. Lightly shaded and foxed. Several pinhead-size holes at blank cross folds. Lightly soiled.
