Index card signed by Hugo L. Black as Associate Supreme Court Justice in Washington, D. C. in 1948
Inscribed signature: "To M.W. Espy, Jr./from Hugo L. Black/Associate Justice United/States Supreme Court/Washington, D.C./Nov. 8, 1948", 5x3 lined index card. A Senator from Alabama (1927-1937) who introduced what became the Fair Labor Standards Act, Black served as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from 1937 until his death in 1971. Black was a strong constitutionalist who championed the Bill of Rights. Browned. Pinhead-size stain at left blank margin. Overall, fine condition.
