The Attorney General under Truman sends his autograph on a Supreme Court card
Autograph Note on Supreme Court Card Signed: "Tom C. Clark," and "TCC" 1p, 4½x3¼. Washington, D.C., 1975 September 23. On a Supreme Court card. In full: "I send you this autograph that brings my best wishes always- Benson Ramsay is at 37 W. 12th St- NYC 10011." and as a postscript "P.S. This is my 16th B-Day." Special Assistant in the Justice Department (1937-1943) and Assistant Attorney General (1943-1945) under FDR, Clark (1899-1977) was appointed Attorney General by Truman in 1945 and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in 1949. When his son Ramsey was appointed Attorney General by LBJ in 1967, Tom C. Clark resigned as Associate Justice to avoid any possible conflict of interest. Fine condition.
