Small black ink drawing of a rather portly-looking fellow, drawn and signed "Best!" by B. K. Taylor
Inscribed original art signed "Allo/to/you/Charles/and/Pat./Best!/B.K. Taylor". Pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. 5¾x9, with 3¼x2¾ black ink drawing. Artist Taylor frst gained fame in 1969 as creator of Odd Rods trading cards. His art, with its combination of deadpan and slapstick (and apparently, in the case of Odd Rods, a liberal dose of acid), has been described as reminiscent of early Mad magazine artists Wallace Wood and Bill Elder - appropriate, since he has been a contributing artist to Mad, as well as an artist and writer for National Lampoon. He's also done character design for Sesame Street (Sam the Robot) and The Muppet Show (Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem) and been a staff writer for ABC's sitcom Home Improvement and Nickelodeon's Eureeka's Castle and a creative consultant on the Walt Disney film Mulan. Taylor has won a CableACE Award for Eureeka's Castle and, in 1980, received an Inkpot Award from Comic-Con. Lightly toned and bowed, otherwise in fine condition.
