Small card signed by Confederate Army Brigadier General and United States Senator Francis Marion Cockrell. With a small b/w book photo of Cockrell.
Signature: "F. M. Cockrell/Mo". Pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. 3½x2¼ card. Lightly toned. Top, left and bottom edges are lightened. Light nick at right edge. Otherwise in fine condition. Accompanied by: Unsigned book photo of Cockrell. B/w, 2½x3¼ overall, 2½x2¾ image, one surface. Captioned: "Brigadier-General F. M. Cockrell, C. S. A.". Lightly toned and creased. Edges are lightened and irregular. Otherwise in fine condition. Cockrell (1834-1915) served in the Confederate Army and was appointed Brigadier General in 1863. He was wounded five times and was captured three times, the last at Fort Blakeley, Alabama, on April 9, 1865, the day Lee surrendered. On May 14, 1865, he was paroled. Cockrell represented Missouri in the U.S. Senate from 1875 to 1905, serving as Democratic Minority Leader from 1903 to 1905.
