DOUGLAS DILLON
Small card signed by Douglas Dillon, Secretary of the Treasury under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Baines Johnson
Signature: "Douglas Dillon". Pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. 3½x2 card. Dillon (1909-2003), born Clarence Douglas Dillon, was the 57th Secretary of the Treasury under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Baines Johnson from January of 1961 to April of 1965. Dillon, a veteran of World War II, had previously served as U. S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France (1953-1957). Dillon also served on the Executive Committee of the National Security Council during the Cuban Missile Crisis. As a private citizen, he was President of the New York Metropolitan Museum and a Trustee of the Rockefeller Foundation (1960-1961). Dillon was awarded the Medal of Freedom in 1989. Lightly toned and soiled, otherwise in fine condition.
