CHARLES BOYER - INSCRIBED SIGNATURE CO-SIGNED BY: PAT PATERSON, GENE RAYMOND - HFSID 42808

CHARLES BOYER, CO-SIGNED BY: PAT PATERSON, GENE RAYMOND
Boyer signed this album leaf with his wife, actress Paterson, and actor Raymond.
Inscribed signatures: "To John/Pat Paterson" by Paterson and "Charles Boyer" by Boyer and, on verso, "Gene Raymond" by Raymond. Also signed "Charles Boyer" in unknown hand in pencil. 3¾x4¾. BOYER (1899-1978, born in Figeac, Lot, Midi-Pyrénées, France) was a suave leading man who played opposite some of his era's most glamorous film stars, including Greta Garbo and Ingrid Bergmann. He was nominated four times for a Best Actor Academy Award: Conquest (1937), Algiers (1938), Gaslight (1944) and Fanny (1961). PATERSON (1910-1978, born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England) was an English actress who appeared in over 20 movies between 1931 and 1939. She had mostly supporting roles in British films before her Hollywood debut opposite Spencer Tracy in Bottoms Up (1934). She married actor Charles Boyer in 1934, a marriage that lasted until her death from cancer in 1978. Boyer committed suicide two days after her death. RAYMOND (1908-1998, born Raymond Guion in New York City) first appeared on stage at age 5, and on Broadway at age 12. Some of his best screen assignments include the anguished death row inmate in If I Had a Million (1932), the renegade groundskeeper in Zoo in Budapest (1933), the guy who won Dolores Del Rio in Flying Down to Rio (1933), the stuffy "other man" in Hitchcock's Mr. and Mrs. Smith (1941) and a glad-handing politico in The Best Man (1964). In 1948, Raymond produced, directed, co-wrote and starred in Million Dollar Weekend. A B-17 bomber pilot over Germany in World War II, he remained in the active reserves until 1968, long enough to fly airlifts in Vietnam, retire as a Colonel and win many decorations, including the Legion of Merit. He was married to actress Jeanette MacDonald from 1937 until her death in 1965. Lightly toned, creased and stained. Raymond's signature is slightly smeared. Otherwise in fine condition.
