CLINTON P. ANDERSON
The U.S. Senator from New Mexico signs a FDC with a 4-cent stamp commemorating the Atomic Energy Act affixed.
First Day Cover signed: "Clinton P. Anderson", 6½x3½. FDC postmarked Norwalk, Connecticut, July 28, 1962. 4-cent stamp commemorating the Atomic Energy Act affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. With printed text below signature reading: "Clinton P. Anderson,/U.S. Senator from New Mexico". Clinton P. Anderson (1895-1975) served as a Congressman (1941-1945) and a Senator (1949-1975) from New Mexico and as Secretary of Agriculture under President Harry S. Truman (1945-1948). As a Senator, Anderson was a vocal supporter of the United States' space program as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aeronautical and Space Sciences (1963-1973). Lightly creased. Lightly frayed at top edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
