COMMANDER GUY P. "LUCKY PIERRE" BORDELON JR. - CALLING CARD SIGNED - HFSID 305625

COMMANDER GUY P. "LUCKY PIERRE" BORDELON, JR.
The only US Navy ace and only nighttime ace of the Korean War, probably the last propeller aircraft ace ever, signs his calling card.
Calling Card signed: "Guy P. Bordelon, Jr./VC-3 Korea '53", 3¼x1¾. Ink signature on his printed calling card as US Navy Commander (Retired). US naval aviator Guy P. "Lucky Pierre" Bordelon, Jr. (1922-2002) served in World War II without seeing combat, but made up for that in Korea, achieving ace status with 5 aerial victories in a 17-day span (June 29-July 15, 1953). He flew mostly low-level night bombing missions in a F4U Corsair, the greatest danger coming from ground fire, not enemy aircraft (which were scarce in that environment), but Bordelon found targets. He was the Navy's only Korean War ace, the only nighttime flying ace of that war, and - probably - the last propeller aircraft ace in history. Bordelon remained in the Navy until 1969, teaching survival training to Vietnam-bound pilots and assisting in NASA capsule recovery missions. Signature slightly bled, but legible. Slightly toned. Corners and edges slightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
