First day cover signed: "D C Gajdusek/4 Laurel Pkway/Chevy Chase, Md.", 6½x3½. First Day Cover with one 15¢ full-color "Endangered Flora" stamp of persistent trillium, postmarked Milwaukee, Wisconsin, June 7, 1979, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Addressed to: Tony E. Duty, Waco, Texas. Gajdusek, (1923-2008), of the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, and Blumberg, born in New York City, of the Institute for Cancer Research, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, shared the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1976 for their discoveries concerning new mechanisms for the origin and dissemination of infectious diseases. Lightly toned and creased, otherwise fine condition.
