1959-1960 concert by Abel on violin and Stafford on the piano. Presented by The

ABEL, born in 1935 in Wenatchee, Washington, is a violinist who made his
orchestral debut at 14 with the San Francisco Symphony and has since toured
North and Latin America. He won the Leventritt International Violin Competition
in 1964 and helped the Francesco Chamber win the 1974 Naumberg Chamber Music
Award. He's taught music at San Jose State University, Grinnell College and
Stanford University and is co-founder of the Mills Chamber Ensemble and the
Abel-Steinberg-Winant Trio. STAFFORD is a pianist
whose professional career began when he accompanied a group of opera
singers on tour. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1941 and served as an
infantryman in the Pacific theatre until 1945. He attended Chicago Musical
College with his GI Bill tuition and began touring nationally, including tours
with Mishel Piastro's Longines Symphonette from 19543 to 1959 and with David
Abel from 1959 to 1966. He formed the South Bay Chamber Music Company in 1963
with Ruth Breytspraak in the South Bay region of Los Angeles, California.
Lightly toned, soiled and creased. Lightly discolored, especially on rear cover.
Otherwise in fine condition.
