EARL L. BUTZ
The Secretary of Agriculture under Presidents Nixon and Ford signs a First Day Cover for the White House Conference on Youth.
Philatelic Envelope signed: "Warm Regards/Earl L Butz", 6½x3¾. First Day Cover White House Conference on Youth, 6-cent White House Conference on Youth 1971 facsimile stamp printed, postmarked Washington, D. C., February 24, 1971, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Secretary of Agriculture under Presidents Nixon and Ford (1970-1976), Butz was forced to resign after it was disclosed he had told a racist joke in a private conversation. As Agriculture Secretary, Butz worked to dismantle decades of production controls, exhorting farmers to plant "fence row to fence row" to meet world food needs. Fine condition.
