The Secretary of Agriculture under Presidents Nixon and Ford signs a First Day Cover Celebrating a White House Conference on the Aging.
First Day Cover signed: "Warm Regards/Earl .L Butz", 6½x3¾. FDC celebrating a White House Conference on the Aging, 8-cent imprinted stamp, postmarked Washington, D. C., November 15, 1971, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Secretary of Agriculture under Presidents Nixon and Ford (1970-1976), Butz was forced to resign after it was disclosed he had told a racist joke in a private conversation. As Agriculture Secretary, Butz worked to dismantle decades of production controls, exhorting farmers to plant "fence row to fence row" to meet world food needs. Fine condition.
