The Emperor asks his Minister of War for a report on the Illyrian Regiment.
Manuscript DS: "Nap" as Emperor of the French, 1 page, 7¼x9. St. Cloud, 1811 April 22. To the Duke of Feltre. In French, not translated. NAPOLÉON tells his Minister of War to make a report on the Illyrian regiment. Napoléon had united the territories on the Adriatic Sea, ceded by Austria in the Peace of Schoenbrunn, in 1809, with Croatia and Ragusa, under the title of the "Seven Illyrian Provinces" and made them a part of the French empire. Unsigned note in French, possibly in the Duke's hand, on 3¼x1¼ slip attached by straight pin (possibly from 1811) at lower left. The DUKE OF FELTRE, HENRI J.C. CLARKE, was Private Secretary to Napoléon from 1799-1804 and Minister of War from 1807-1814. He was created Duke of Feltre in 1809. Folds, vertical fold touches signature. Pencil note (unknown hand) at upper left corner. Pinhead-size stains at lower margin. Lightly creased. Overall, fine condition.
