FERRANTE & TEICHER - PHOTOGRAPH SIGNED CO-SIGNED BY: FERRANTE & TEICHER (ARTHUR FERRANTE), FERRANTE & TEICHER (LOUIS TEICHER) - DOCUMENT 180779

FERRANTE & TEICHER: ARTHUR FERRANTE and LOUIS TEICHER
Signed b/w publicity photo of Ferrante and Teicher in suits-and-ties, with Ferrante standing and leaning on a sitting Teicher's shoulder
Photograph signed "Ferrante" and "Teicher", both in blue ink. B/w, 8x9¾ overall, 7½x9¼ image, one surface. After meeting as students and then working as teachers at Juilliard, FERRANTE, (1921-2009, born in New York City), and TEICHER (1924-2008, born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania) began to perform on the piano as a duo, primarily with classical groups, in 1946. When they began, they experimented with modifying their pianos, inserting objects into the stringbed, playing on the stringbed, striking keys or strings with blocks and generally striving to figure out how to get the strangest possible sounds. In the 1960s, Ferrante & Teicher became one of the best-selling instrumental easy listening groups. Their 1965 Greatest Hits album included such classics as Exodus, Tonight, Theme from the Apartment, Midnight Cowboy and Love Theme from Lawrence of Arabia. Lightly toned and creased. Pen skipped while signing Teicher's signature. Defect in negative near Teicher's left ear has been reproduced in photo. Light tear near lower right corner. Horizontal striations on image (not visible head-on). Otherwise in fine condition.
