As US Consul in Liverpool, he certifies that Joseph Denison is qualified to verify an invoice.
Document signed: "Francis B. Ogden", 1 page, 7x7½. Also signed: "Saml. Pearce". Liverpool, England, 1835 July 20. As US Consul, Ogden certifies that Joseph Denison is a Master Extraordinary in Chancery authorized to administer oaths, and that he is qualified to verify an annexed invoice [not included here]. FRANCIS B. OGDEN (1783-1857), a veteran of the War of 1812, was, successively, US Consul in three British ports: Liverpool (1829-1840), Bristol (1840-1852) and Manchester (1952-1857). He died in England and was buried there. Samuel Pearce was a British merchant. Doc with attached embossed paper seal at lower left corner (2 surfaces). Toned and lightly creased. 3 horizontal 3 vertical fold creases. Multiple stains throughout doc. Otherwise fine condition.
