Georges Barrère (1876-1944) was a French flautist. Barrère attending cadet training due to the Franco-Prussian War and, afterward, he began taking lessons at the Paris Conservatoire. He first trained under Henry Altès and then with Claude-Paul Taffanel, improving immensely due to his experience with the latter. During his time at the Conservatoire, Barrère played in the orchestra of the Folies Bergère. Moreover, he joined the orchestra of the Société Nationale de Musique. Following his graduation, Barrère began teaching at the Collège Stanislas and he won a chair in the Concerts Colonne, both in 1897. Toned, especially at edges due to a previous mounting. Pencil notes on verso in an unknown hand. Dark staining along top edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
