BOB LILLY - SIGNATURE(S)
BOB LILLY
The Hall of Famer signs his name and number on a 5x3 card.
Signature: "Bob Lilly/#74", 5x3 card. Bob Lilly was perhaps the greatest defensive tackle in NFL History. "Mr. Cowboy" as he was affectionately named was the first draft pick in the Dallas Cowboys franchise history. In college he played for Texas Christian University where he was an All American and later in 1981 was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Part of the Dallas "Doomsday Defense" coached by Tom Landry, Bob's defensive tackle abilities brought him to the Pro Bowl eleven times. In his Super Bowl VI appearance Lilly made one of the most memorable defensive plays in Super Bowl history with his 29 yard sack of Miami Dolphins quarterback Bob Griese. The Cowboys went on to win the game 24-3. His name was the first to be inscribed into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor and his number 74 has been the only number unofficially retired by the team. In his first year of eligibility in 1980 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Typed character in lower right. Typed caption on verso shows through faintly at signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
