Document signed (in Cyrillic letters): "Pyotr Kapitsa", "N.E. Alekseevsky", "E. M. Liphshitz", "Lev Landau", "M.P. Malkov", "E. B. Obreemov", "V.P Peshkov", "P. G. Strelkov", "V.A. Fock", "V.T. Hozyaenov", "E.M. Halatnikov" and "A. E. Shalnikov". (Moscow), 1955 June 23. Double matted to an overall size of 13x16. List of the members of the Council for the Institute of Physics, signed by 12 of the 15 members. The Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology, created in 1946, is of central importance to Russian science. Graduates include leading specialists in nuclear research and rocket science, oceanography, biophysics, radiophysics and many other scientific endeavors. Pyotr KAPITSA (Nobel Prize, 1978) and other leading scientists lobbied the government to create this elite institute, at which students recruited by challenging competitive exams would pursue an individualized program of study under the guidance of a prominent scientist. The signatures include another Nobel Prize winner, LEV LANDAU (1962). Lightly toned. Light vertical fold. Otherwise, fine condition.
