ROD THORN
Signature of the Nets G.M., under whom the team made the NBA Finals for the first time.
Signature: "Rod/Thorn", 4x5 sheet. Printed caption at top: "From the desk of/Aileen David". Rod Thorn (b. 1941), an All-American guard at West Virginia, played in the NBA from 1963 to 1971, beginning as an All-Rookie Team selection for the Washington Bullets and concluding his playing career with the Seattle Supersonics. After coaching in the American Basketball Association, Thorn became General Manager of the Chicago Bulls in 1978, and was instrumental in drafting Michael Jordan. He was interim head coach of the Bulls in 1982. After working 15 years as a league executive, Thorn became President and General Manager of the New Jersey Nets in 2000. He was named NBA Executive of the Year in 2002, the year the Nets reached the NBA Finals for the first time. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
