JERRY LEWIS and PATTI LEWIS
Jerry and Patti Lewis sign a document sating that the promissory note.
Carbon Typed Document Signed: "Jerry Lewis" and "Patti Lewis" in ink on page 2, 3p, 8½x11½, separate sheets. No place, but probably Beverly Hills, California, 1967 October 10. Headed: "Assignment". In part: "FOR VALUABLE CONSIDERATION, receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, and as collateral security for the payment of the promissory note in the principal sum of $125,000, and any renewals or extensions thereof, executed by JERRY LEWIS and PATTI LEWIS, hereafter referred to as 'Assignors', to BANK OF AMERICA NATIONAL TRUST AND SAVINGS ASSOCIATION, hereafter referred to as 'Bank', Assignors hereby assign, transfer and set over to Bank all of Assignors' right, title and interest in and to that certain agreement by and between Jerry Lewis and American Broadcasting Company, a division of American Broadcasting-Paramount Theaters dated November 7, 1963, as amended by agreements dated April 21, 1964, February 2, 1965 and October 20, 1966, and to any and all moneys due or to become due thereunder...." Lewis was married to his first wife, the former Patti Palmer, from 1944-1982; the couple had six children. In 1967, Lewis was seen on the big screen in two films, Don't Raise the Bridge, Lower the River and The Big Mouth. Born in 1926 to comedian parents, comedian and actor Jerry Lewis, born Joseph Levitch, first achieved fame as part of a comedy duo with singer Dean Martin from 1946-1956. Disliked by many U.S. critics, but revered in Europe (and by many American fans) as a comic genius, Lewis starred in such films as Jumping Jacks (with Martin, 1952), The Geisha Boy (1958), The Nutty Professor (1963), The King of Comedy (1983) and Funny Bones (1995). He has directed several of his films, and is well known as the host of annual Labor Day telethons for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. On thin paper. Lightly creased with folds, light horizontal fold at the descender of the "J" in Jerry and the upper loop of the "P" in Patti. Pinhead-size holes at blank left margins of all three sheets. Fine condition.
