HANK SNOW, CO-SIGNED BY: BOBBY WRIGHT, KAYTON ROBERTS, JIMMIE WIDENER
Signed b/w publicity photo of Hank Snow standing in front of his tour bus with Bobby Wright, steel guitarist Kayton Roberts and banjoist Jimmie Widener
Photograph signed "Hank Snow" in blue ink and "Kayton Roberts", "Bobby Wright" and "Jimmie Widener", all in black ink. B/w, 8x9¾ overall, 7¼x9¼ image, one surface. SNOW (1914-1999, born Clarence Eugene Snow in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia, Canada ) was a country music singer, songwriter and guitarist had over 70 hits on the Billboard charts between 1950 and 1980. His first of seven No. 1 hits, I'm Movin' On, came the year he debuted at the Grand Ole Opry (1951). His signature song, I've Been Everywhere, has a hitch-hiker reciting place names at a breakneck speed which has challenged other singers. Elvis Presley started out as an opening act for Hank Snow. Snow performed at presidential campaign rallies for George Wallace in 1968, and was enshrined in the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1979. WRIGHT, born in Charleston, West Virginia in 1942, is the son of country legends Johnny Wright and Kitty Wells. But Wright got his show business start, not in country music, but as the radio operator on McHale's Navy (1961-1966). He finally tried his hand at music before the show ended - he apparently had an early aversion to the music business - and released a total of 21 country records during the 1960s and 1970s, none of which, unfortunately, made him a star. He also appeared on one of his mother's albums in 1965 and joined the Kitty Wells-Johnny Wright Family Show syndicated TV show from 1970 to 1971 and is still a part of the family's show. ROBERTS, born in 1933, was a steel guitarist who performed for four decades with country legend Hank Snow. He also played with Randy Travis, Hank Williams III, Riders in the Sky and Jimmie Dale. WIDENER, born James P. Leon Widener, was a banjoist in the western swing music genre. Lightly toned, creased, rippled and bowed. Light scratches on image (not visible head-on). Irregular top and bottom edges. Otherwise in fine condition.
