Typewritten DS: "L.S. MacPhail" as President of the American League Baseball Club of New York, Inc. (New York Yankees), 1p, 8½x11. New York, 1947 May 19. Binghamton Exhibition Co., Inc., Waiver of Notice, Meeting of the Stockholders. In part: "American League Baseball Club of New York, Inc., the undersigned, being the owner of 90% of the stock of the above-named company, organized under the laws of the state of New York, entitled to vote at a meeting of the stockholders, does hereby waive notice of the time and place of a special meeting of said stockholders, and the business to be transacted at said meeting...." In 1945, Dan Topping and Del Webb bought the New York Yankees and installed MacPhail as President, giving him a third of the club and a ten-year contract to run it. On October 6, 1947, the day the Yankees won the 1947 World Series, MacPhail embarrassed himself by brawling in public. Topping and Webb bought out his contract and share of the ownership. MacPhail was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1978. His son, Leland S. MacPhail, Jr., President of the American League (1974-1984), was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998; they are the only father-son team enshrined. 3 file holes in blank left margin.
