ANATOLE FRANCE
French novelist, critic, poet and playwright.
ALS: "Anatole France", 1p, 5x5. In French with English translation. No place, no date. In full: "Dear Friend, I left the Minister who is well disposed toward you and will receive you next Monday, 28, at 4:30 p.m. Good for you and I'm very happy to think that the affair has very good prospects." One of the most prominent and prolific French writers of his day, Anatole France (1844-1924) was regarded as a brilliant satirist and humorist. He was noted for the wit, urbanity, irony, skepticism and literary style of his works. After the Dreyfus Affair (he supported Dreyfus), he introduced social and political concerns into his plays and novels. The French writer was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize in Literature. Lightly creased. Horizontal fold just touches the tip of "F" in France. Overall, fine condition. Framed in Gallery of History style: 18x18.
