AMELIA M. EARHART - EPHEMERA SIGNED CIRCA 1935
AMELIA EARHART. Paper Napkin signed: "Amelia Earhart". Beige colored paper napkin, 13½x13½ when fully opened. Green illustration of a plane printed on right center of folded 6¾x6¾x9½ triangular portion, signed in pencil above the plane. Light folds, including 2 that pass through the upper portion of the "A" of signature. Light stain to the lower left of the plane. Considering that this napkin is almost 70 years old, it is in fine condition, with no tears. Accompanied by an ANS: "Suzanne S. Parker", 1p, 4½x6. No place, 1992 June 23. In full: "This napkin was autographed by Amelia Earhart who was promoting a line of sportswear at Strawbridge and Clothier Department Store in Ardmore, PA. in the mid thirties. They served tea and cakes on this occasion and I asked her to autograph this napkin for me." Fine condition. In 1932, Earhart became the first woman to fly the Atlantic solo. She established other aviation records that did not include "woman", such as first Hawaii-to-mainland solo (1935) and first Mexico City-to-New York flight (1935). In 1937, Amelia Earhart was lost over the Pacific in an attempted around-the-world flight. Two items.
