BUSTER KEATON - INSCRIBED PHOTOGRAPH SIGNED CO-SIGNED BY: WERNER SCHWIER - DOCUMENT 255538

BUSTER KEATON
In Germany with actor Werner Schwier.
Postcard Photograph signed: "Buster Keaton" and "Werner Schwier". B/w, 3½x5½ overall, image 3½x4½ (one surface). German postcard captioned in German on verso, roughly translated: "It may be laughed. Grotesque ones from the old cinema time, presented by Werner Schwier." WERNER SCHWIER (1921-1982) appeared in the French comedy starring Fernandel, Heureux qui comme Ulysse [Happy Like Ulysses] (1970), as well as dramatic roles in the 1960s. The silent screen's "Great Stone Face", BUSTER KEATON (1895-1966) has been called its "greatest comic player" by movie critic Leonard Maltin. In 1959, actor-writer-producer-director Keaton received a special Oscar "for his unique talents which brought immortal comedies to the screen". In 1962, Buster Keaton was a guest at the Berlin Film Festival, where this photograph may have been taken. Fine condition.
