Raoul Dufy sends a typed letter inviting his friend to visit.
Typed Letter Signed: "Raoul Dufy", 1p, 8¼x10½. Perpignan, (France), 1947 April 22. To Mr. Dunoyer de Segonzac, Saint-Tropez. In French, not translated. Asking his friend, fellow French artist and engraver Andred Dunoyer de Segonzac to visit and recommending a tour of the surrounding countryside, adding: "...I work, it is the only agreeable thing that remains to do down here. I believe that you are aware of that. As for my health, there are highs and lows...I am very confident of the treatment I am receiving now...." Five words in Dufy's hand. Versatile French painter, muralist and graphic artist Raoul Dufy (1877-1953), initially influenced by the Impressionists, later added his own flair to the fauve school. His luminous, exuberant watercolors include scenes of sailing and other outdoor amusements as well as flowers, musical instruments and nudes. Perpignan was a favorite place of artists. Largely Catalan in atmosphere, the Mediterranean city is noted for its fine architecture and art treasures. Lightly creased, else fine.
