GOGI GRANT
1982 first day cover for the Wolf Trap Farm Park, signed by singer Gogi Grant. Her song The Wayward Wind was a No. 1 hit in 1956.
First Day Cover signed "Gogi Grant". 6½x3¾. First day cover honoring the Wolf Trap Farm Park Virginia for the Performing Arts. Postmarked Vienna, Virginia, Sept. 1, 1982. One color 20-cent Wolf Trap Farm stamp affixed. FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Pop vocalist Grant, born Myrtle Audrey Arinsberg in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1924, is best known for her 1956 hit song The Wayward Wind, which shot to No. 1 in the U.S. and reached the Top 10 in Great Britain. Grant, who had also had a Top 10 hit with Suddenly There's A Valley in 1955, recorded a number of albums, provided the vocals for Ann Blyth's portrayal of Helen Morgan in The Helen Morgan Story (1957) and appeared in another feature film and on two TV shows during the late 1950s. Envelope is open and empty. Normal postal stamps. Lightly toned, bowed and rippled. Lightly soiled on verso (no show-through). Otherwise in fine condition.
