LT. GENERAL MOSHE DAYAN - TYPED LETTER SIGNED 09/07/1967
MOSHE DAYAN. TLS: "M. Dayan" in English as Minister of Defense, 1p, 8¼x10¾. Tel Aviv, 1967 September 7. To Joe H. Garson, Atlanta, Georgia. In full: "I have received your letter dated August 30, 1967, and would like to convey to you my sincere thanks for its contents." Dayan founded the Haganah militia force in 1939. After serving in the British Army during World War II, he fought in Israel's first war after independence in 1948, losing his left eye. The Israeli Chief of Staff (1953-1958), Dayan is credited with the Israeli Army's success in Gaza and the Sinai in the 1956 Suez War. As Minister of Defense, he planned and commanded the Six Day War (1967). General Dayan resigned after a disagreement relating to the 1973 Yom Kippur War. He was Foreign Minister from 1977-1979. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
