The Enola Gay Crew and Bocks Car Crew sign a book titled The Great Decision: The Secret History of the Atomic Bomb by Michael Amrine.
Book signed: "Paul Tibbets" on flyleaf, "George R. Caron" on title page and "Tom Ferebee/Bombardier of Enola Gay", "T J Van Kirk/Navigator", "George R. Caron/Tail Gunner", "Paul W. Tibbets/Pilot", "R. H. Nelson/Radio Operator", "Morris R. Jeppson/Bomb Electronics Officer", "Frederick L. Ashworth/Commander - US Navy/'Weaponeer' - Bockscar/NAGASAKI - 9 Aug. 1945" and "Major Charles W. Sweeney/Airplane Commander 'Bock's Car'" on first of 3 blank pages at end of book, 264p, 5¾x8¼, hardcover. The Great Decision: The Secret History of the Atomic Bomb by Michael Amrine, G. P. Putnam's Sons, New York: 1959. First Edition. On August 6, 1945, the B-29 bomber Enola Gay dropped the first atomic bomb used in warfare on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. On August 9, Bocks Car dropped an A-bomb on the city of Nagasaki. Japan surrendered on August 15. No dust jacket. Cover is lightly worn, binding slightly split. Tibbets' first signature page has a 1-inch surface scuff below his signature. Overall, fine condition.
