and signed on the sisters' behalf of sisters Dianne, Kathy and Janet.The
Lennon Sisters, 16-year-old Dianne ("Dee Dee"), 14-year-old Peggy, 12-year-old
Kathy and nine-year-old Janet, made their debut on Lawrence Welk's 1955
Christmas show, and remained on the popular weekly program through 1967. The
popular quartet had a #15 hit with "Tonight You Belong to Me" in 1956 and
another popular single, "Sad Movie (Make Me Cry)" almost five years later.
During their tenure with Welk, the sisters toured extensively with the
Lawrence Welk Orchestra and appeared on a number of TV variety shows,
including those hosted by Perry Como, Andy Williams and Ed Sullivan. The Lennons
also had their own TV series, Jimmy Durante Presents the Lennon Sisters
Hour (1969-1970), and have sung for six U.S. Presidents. In 1994,
they began appearing at The Welk Champagne Theater in Branson, Missouri. After
Peggy retired in 1999, she was replaced by sister Mimi, and when Dee Dee retired
in 2000, the Lennon Sisters continue to perform in Branson as a trio. Fine
