SHIMON PERES, YITZHAK RABIN and KING HUSSEIN
The Israeli leaders and Jordanian King, co-recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize, sign a baseball.
Baseball signed: "Shimon Peres", "Y. Rabin" and "Hussein I." Official Rawlings American League baseball, Bobby Brown, President. On December 10, 1994, Peres, Rabin and Palestine Liberation Organization Chairman Yasser Arafat were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the framework for Peace signed at the White House in 1993. Israeli Foreign Minister SHIMON PERES acted as Prime Minister from April 22 to June 21, 1977, between the ministries of Yitzhak Rabin and Menachem Begin, then served as Prime Minister (1984-1986) and Foreign Minister (1986-1988) in a coalition government with Yitzhak Shamir. Under Rabin, from 1992-1995, he was again Foreign Minister. When Prime Minister Rabin was assassinated on November 4, 1995, Peres succeeded him, serving until he was defeated by Benjamin Netanyahu on June 18, 1996. When Ariel Sharon became Prime Minister on March 7, 2001, Peres returned as Foreign Minister. General YITZHAK RABIN (1922-1995), Chief of Staff during the 1967 Six-Day War, was Prime Minister of Israel from June 3, 1974 to April 22, 1977 and July 13, 1992 to November 4, 1995, when he was assassinated by an Israeli as he was leaving a peace rally. The assassin, Jewish law student Yigal Amir, said in court that the assassination was meant to halt the Mideast peace process. HUSSEIN I BIN TALAL (1935-1999) was proclaimed King of Jordan on August 11, 1952 at the age of 16, but, because of his age, he was not enthroned until May 2, 1953. Hussein reigned until his death from lymphatic cancer on February 7, 1999. Four months earlier, in October 1998, he took time from his chemotherapy in the U.S. to join with President Clinton at the Wye River Plantation outside Washington, D.C. to help Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu come to a "land for peace" agreement that was signed October 23, 1998. Signatures of three key players in the quest for peace in the Middle East. Ink slightly "haloed" at Peres' signature. Minor bumps. Fine condition.
