PAUL SHAFFER
He signs a $133.58 check to the Radio and T. V. Registry.
Check signed: "Paul Shaffer", 6x2¾. New York, N.Y., 1978 September 5. Check #103, drawn on his personal account at Chase Manhattan Bank, payable to the Radio and T. V. Registry for $133.58. Canadian musician and comedian Paul Shaffer was the music director of Toronto's production of Godspell before joining NBC's Saturday Night Life as a pianist and occasional skit member (1975-1980). Since 1982 he has been band leader and sidekick to late night TV host David Letterman, filling in as host in David's absence. He has been music director and producer of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's annual enshrinement ceremony since its origin in 1986, and played the same role for the 1996 Olympics closing ceremony in Atlanta. Ink note (unknown hand) at upper left. Fine condition.
