Photograph signed: "Cordialmente/Alexandre Uninsky". B/w, 4x6. Alexander Uninsky (1910-1972, born in Kiev, Russia, now in the Ukraine) was a classical pianist who specialized in interpretations of Chopin. American audiences probably know him best from his many recordings of Frédéric Chopin's works, including all the Etudes, Mazurkas and Impromptus, between the 1950s and 1971. Uninsky first established a name for himself at the International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in 1932, which he won. He took up a teaching post at the conservatory of Toronto in 1955 and later at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Lightly toned. Edges lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
