7x9 head and shoulders image of the Voice of Firestone star
Photograph signed: "Best Wishes/Margaret Speaks". B/w, 7x9. Margaret Speaks (1905-1977) was a Soprano vocalist, most known for lending her talent to NBC-Radio's The Voice of Firestone in the 1930s. She began her pursuit of music after graduating college, traveling to New York and signing in musicals in local venues and churches. It was in New York that she began singing alongside other musicians, such as Richard Crooks, Gladys Swarthout, and Nelson Eddy. Her work in duos was praised, leading to her own solo performances. Although she was critically praised, she never rose to super stardom, and retired peacefully. Edges lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
