BUDDY DE FRANCO, VIRGINIA VINCENT and REGINALD GARDINER
Buddy De Franco, Virginia Vincent, and Reginald Gardiner sign a sheet.
Inscribed signature: "To George/Thanks so much for your interest in myself/Buddy De Franco", 7¾x10 sheet. Printed magazine promotion for Nelson Riddle's Cross County [Suite], 6¾x3½, picturing De Franco, affixed at lower margin. At lower right margin, De Franco has written an Autograph Note Signed: "Buddy". No place, no date, but circa 1958. To George. In full: "Thanks for helping this one off to a good start. Sincerely". On verso, inscribed signatures: "To George - (Utica)/Thanks for having me on/your program. I enjoyed it. Sincerely,/Virginia Vincent/(Goshen)" and "To George Sanders -/Please ask me again./Sincerely -/Reginald Gardiner". Magazine photo of Vincent, b/w with pink hue, 1¾x2¼, and printed name affixed at upper right margin next to her writing; magazine photo of Gardiner, b/w, 4¼x3½, affixed at lower right corner. De Franco premiered Nelson Riddle's Cross Country Suite in 1958. BUDDY DE FRANCO (born in 1923) is one of the great jazz clarinet players and one of the first to apply Charlie Parker-style be-bop to that instrument. His discography extends over 50 years, from King of the Clarinet (1952) to Cookin' the Books (2004). Actress VIRGINIA VINCENT (born in 1924) is probably best known to TV audiences for her role as Daisy Maxwell on Eight is Enough (1977-1979), although she was also a regular on The Joey Bishop Show (Betty, 1961-1962). Vincent, who also guest starred in several TV anthologies and series, from The Web in 1952 to Knots Landing in 1988, and appeared in made-for-TV movies, made her film debut in 1953 in Taxi. Her long list of feature film credits includes The Helen Morgan Story (1957), I Want to Live! (1958), Love With the Proper Stranger (1963), Change of Habit (1969), The $1,000,000 Duck (1971) and The Longshot (1986). British actor REGINALD GARDINER (1903-1980) spent most of his 50-year stage, screen and television career playing suave but slightly untrustworthy British gentlemen. Gardiner, who made his Broadway debut in 1935, appeared in a number of feature films, including Royal Cavalcade (1935), Marie Antoinette (1938), The Great Dictator (1940), The Doctor Takes a Wife (1940), The Man Who Came to Dinner (1942), Sweet Rosie O'Grady (1943), Halls of Montezuma (1951), Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation (1962), What a Way to Go! (1964) and Do Not Disturb (1965). Television viewers remember him best for his role as Uncle Ned Pruitt on The Pruitts of Southhampton (1966-1967), although Gardiner appeared in a number of anthologies and series, from The Best of Broadway (1954) to The Monkees (1968). Lightly soiled. Page numbers (in Sander's hand) at lower edges. Irregular right edge from removal from bound book. Fine condition.
