IBRAHIM AL-SOWAYEL. Photograph signed in Arabic. B/w, 5x7. Photograph by Chase, Washington (imprint at lower left and stamped on verso). On verso, Al-Sowayel has written: "With my compliments" and signed his name again. Typed label: "His Excellency Ibrahim Al-Sowayel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saudi Arabia to the United States." Slightly creased at blank margins. Light impression from writing on verso at upper background. Fine condition. Accompanied by TLS: "A. Al-Maimanee" as Third Secretary, 1p, 8½x11. Washington, D.C., 1972 February 14. On letterhead of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia to Mr. Danny Franklin, Phoenix, Arizona. In full: "As per your request, I am enclosing herewith a photograph of His Excellency, Ibrahim Al-Sowayel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saudi Arabia to the United States of America. Thank you very much for your good wishes and we do extend to you too our best regards. Sincerely". Lightly creased with fold, not at signature. Fine condition. We have found references relating to Ambassador Ibrahim Al-Sowayel attending a luncheon hosted by E. Ernest Goldstein on October 4, 1967, during the administration of Lyndon B. Johnson (the President greeted the attendees, which also included representatives from Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Tunisia and Libya, and returned to speak briefly to them following the luncheon). Al-Sowayel continued on into the Nixon administration, attending a conference in July 1974. Two items.
