JAMES A. FARLEY. TLS: "James A Farley" as Chairman of the Board of The Coca Cola Export Corporation, 1p, 8½x11. New York, no date. To Carson C. Hathaway, Silver Spring, Maryland. In part: "I have always been a regular organization Democrat and have supported the party's nominees, in either a primary or a convention. That will always be my policy. When a person participates in a primary or is a delegate to a convention I think they are bound to support the party nominee. If one does not take an active part they can do whatever they like...." James A. Farley (1888-1976) was appointed Chairman of the Democratic National Committee (1932) and FDR's Postmaster General (1933), holding both posts until disagreeing with FDR about running for a third term in 1940. Farley resigned both positions in 1940 but remained Chairman of the party in New York State (1930-1944). Tape stains from verso show through to bottom edge, else fine.
