Extremely rare signature from the first woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize
Signature: "Jane Addams", 4¼x2 affixed to 4¾x2¼ sheet. Social reformer Jane Addams (1860-1935) pioneered the settlement house movement in the U.S. In 1889, she co-founded Hull-House to provide social and cultural activities for poor European immigrants. The first President of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Addams was awarded the 1931 Nobel Peace Prize, the first American woman so honored. Vertical fold touches the "J" of Jane. Both signature and mounting sheets are lightly soiled. Edges irregular. Lightly creased. Tear on left margin. Corners and edges slightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
