JOHN AGAR - INSCRIBED PRINTED PHOTOGRAPH SIGNED IN INK - HFSID 342770

JOHN AGAR
The popular western actor poses in still from the 1956 film Flesh and the Spur, signs name in green ink
Inscribed photograph signed in ink: "John Agar" in green ink. B/w, 10x8. Still from the 1956 film Flesh and the Spur. An apparently rising star in such war and Western films as She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949), handsome actor John Agar (1921-2002) was largely consigned to low budget science fiction movies after his divorce from Shirley Temple in 1949 (the 27-year-old actor had married 17-year-old Temple in 1945 after a whirlwind courtship). He later appeared in three Westerns with friend John Wayne (1969-1971) and was often sought for film and TV character roles. Corners rounded. Toned and slightly soiled. Ink stamps in bottom margin and on verso (slightly smeared). Light surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
