Signed photo showing Fenn receiving his 2002 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, with printed text citing his achievement
Photograph signed: "With best wishes/John B. Fenn", 5½x3¾ printed card, with 2½x2 color photograph. John Bennett Fenn (b. 1917) received a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2002 for his work in mass spectroscopy. Specifically, he developed an electrospray ionization technique used to identify and analyze biological macromolecules. The practical effect of his work was to speed evaluation of new pharmaceutical compounds, such as AIDS medications. Fenn, a member of the Yale University faculty from 1962, waged two battles with the University. The first conflict was over age discrimination; at the mandatory retirement age of 70, Fenn hadn't even begun the research which earned the Nobel Prize. Fenn battled Yale in the courtroom in 2005 over patent rights to his discoveries. Fine condition.
