PRESIDENT FILLMORE'S CABINET
Seven members of Fillmore's Cabinet sign their names on this sheet of paper with their titles
Signatures: "Tho. Corwin/Secy of the Treasy/W City 4th July 1852", "N.K. Hall/P.M. Genl", "Alexr H.H. Stuart/Secretary of the Interior/Feby 4th 1852", "J.J. Crittenden/Atty General", "C.M. Conrad/Sec. of War/Feby. 10th 1852", "John P. Kennedy/Secy of the Navy/Jany 31. 1853", "J. Collamer/Postmaster-Gen 1850" and "J. Thompson/Sec of Interior" (verso), 1¼p, 8¼x10¼. Headed: "Heads of Departments". The seven men who signed on the first page were members of Fillmore's Cabinet. Jacob Thompson of Mississippi, who signed on verso, was a member of Buchanan's Cabinet (1857-1861). He resigned to serve as Inspector General in the Confederate Army and was the Confederacy's confidential agent to Canada in 1864 and 1865. Stained at the lower right, where Kennedy wrote the date. Irregular left edge from removal from bound book, browned at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
