The outgoing Secretary of Commerce signs a letter introducing businessman and philanthropist Edward A. Filene to US trade officials in Vienna.
Typed Letter signed: "J. W. Alexander" as Secretary of Commerce, 1 page, 8x10½. Washington, D.C., 1920 April 24. On official letterhead to William Ford Upson, Trade Commissioner, c/o American Commissioner Halstead, Vienna, Austria. In full: "I take pleasure in introducing to you Mr. Edward A. Filene, of William Filenes Sons Company, of Boston, who is sailing for Europe primarily of attending the meeting of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. Mr. Filene, as you probably know, played a very prominent part in securing delegates for the International Trade Conference which was held in Atlantic City last October. Lightly toned and creased. Corners creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
