JULIUS A. KRUG
Truman's Secretary of the Interior thanks a man in New York for sending him some hand-lettered cards.
Typed Letter signed: "J.A Krug", as Secretary of the Interior, 1 page, 7x9. Washington, 1947 December 4. On letterhead of The Secretary of the Interior addressed to Mr. L. J. Sylver New Yrok, New York. In full: "It was very thoughtful for you to send me the beautifully hand-lettered cards, with your letter of November 29. Thanks so much! I appreciated receiving them. Sincerely," Julius A. Krug (1907-1970) was chief power engineer of the Tennessee Valley Authority, and head of the War Production Board during World War II. As Truman's Secretary of the Interior (1946-1949), he conducted the unsuccessful negotiations to end a nationwide strike by the United Mine Workers. Multiple mailing folds. Fine condition.
