Envelope addressed by the Danish novelist and poet to a recipient in Tennessee, United States
Autograph envelope unsigned, 4¼x3. Addressed to Warren E. Colerlle. Fayetteville, Tennessee. United States. Karl Gjellerup (1857-1919) was a Danish novelist and poet who shared the 1917 Nobel Prize in Literature with a fellow Dane, Henrik Pontoppidan. The Nobel award praised Gjellerup "for his varied and rich poetry, which is inspired by lofty ideals." His works included An Idealist (1878) and The Young Denmark (1879). His later writing reflected the influence of India and of Buddhism. Corners and edges slightly worn. Lightly soiled. Ink stamps. Ink notes (unknown hand) on left margin. Light surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
