LAMAR ALEXANDER

Photograph inscribed and signed: "For Michael/Lamar Alexander". Color, 8x10. Lamar Alexander (b. 1940) was Governor of Tennessee (1979-1987) and US Secretary of Education (1991-1993). He sought the Republican Presidential nomination unsuccessfully in 1996 and 2000. Elected to the US Senate in 2002 and re-elected in 2008, he has announced his intention to seek a third term in 2014. Congressional Quarterly rates Alexander one of the most bipartisan Republicans in the US Congress. A classical and country pianist, Alexander accompanied Patti Page on the re-recording of her "Tennessee Waltz" in 2007. Corners slightly creased. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
