As Captain of the brig Two Saints, owned by Benjamin Mumford, he signs an account sheet upon his return to New York (1796).
Autograph Document signed: "Lovett V. Adams", 1 page. 15¼x19. New York, 1796 August 9. As Master of the brig Two Saints, owned by Benjamin M. Mumford, Adams signs an account sheet of commercial transactions on a trade voyage to an unnamed destination. The left-hand column gives the dollars received for goods carried on the outward journey commencing in February 1796, while the right-hand shows dollar value of goods carried back to New York. The Two Saints must have sailed south, since the return cargo includes coffee. Biographic information on Lovett Adams in unavailable. A prominent merchant named Benjamin Mumford (1735-1812) was born in Newport, Rhode Island, but it's not certain he was the same man who owned the brig Two Saints. Center vertical fold crease with 4 wear holes at intersections with horizontal folds. Edges chipped at fold creases. Lightly toned and creased. Overall, fine condition,
