The Major General requests status of civil and military elements, dated 1900!
Autograph Letter Signed: "Abreau" in iron gall ink. 12½x8¾. Fully Translated in English: "Cobre, May 2, 1900. General Juan Pablo Cebreca. I have the honor to address you the circular and models attached with the purpose that the Major State gives me on March 15 of this current year the status of both civil and military elements corresponding to the V Brigade and to the Santiago Cavalry Regiment. I will give your scribers the sixty pesos offered for the inspection of these tasks and the ones of my General Barracks. Best Regards, Major General." The title of "Major General" was symbolized by three gold made stars and was required for obtaining the titles of Chief General, General Lieutenant, Chiefs of Oriental and Occidental and Chiefs of the Liberation Army. Besides Abreu, the title was also held by the Presidents of the Revolutionaries that came up from the Assembles of Jimaguayu in 1895 and Yaya in 1897. Light vertical fold, ½-inch separation at blank middle verso and 1¼-inch paper loss at blank vertical fold. Adhesive tape affixed at center paper loss hole. Toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
