JOSE MODESTO RODRIGUEZ
The Cuban Major General Jose Modesto Rodriguez informs captain Jose F Lamas Y Garcia de Osuna that his application for the position for the Commander position has been submitted to the superior officials
Manuscript Letter Signed: "J.M. Rodriguez" in iron gall ink. 8¼x6¼. Written on official Military Department of the West, General Headquarters letterhead. Fully Translated in English: "Montalvito, September 30, 1898.Mr. Captain Jose F Lamas Y Garcia de Osuma. Regiment no. 23. Captain: On this date, the general barrack has had the pleasure to present to superior officers your application to immediately become Commandeer of the Liberation Army with seniority of January 1, 1898. All yours in Fatherland and Liberty. Major General J.M. Rodriguez" Modesto Rodrigues was a Major General in Cuba's War of Independence (1895-1898). Normal mailing folds. Worn and soiled. Small tears along edges. Binding holes along left margin. Sealed. Ink note on front (unknown hand). Corners creased and torn. Otherwise, fine condition.
