Signed book page identifying the book (not present) as a limited edition
Book Page signed: "M. Baring", 7¾x10¼. Printed text: "This edition is limited to five hundred and twenty-five copies of which five hundred are for sale. This is No. 235." (Number hand written by an unknown hand.) Printed on verso: "Cecil Spencer." Maurice Baring (1874-1945), born into the powerful British banking family, was a skilled linguist, spent time in the diplomatic service and decorated with an OBE for his service in the Royal Flying Corps in World War I. Active in literary circles, a friend of G. K. Chesterton and Hallaire Belloc, he wrote novels, short stories, poems and essays. Cecil Spencer was published in 1929. Oval stain -1¼x1½ affecting number and "Ma" of signature. Right edge ragged and other edges lightly chipped. Toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
